Theophilus Sackey
Director & Chief Executive Officer

Theophilus oversees all aspects of the day-to-day management and operations of the KIPP Project. He holds a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from the Belarus Polytechnic Institute, Minsk, Belarus, and a Masters Degree in Public Policy and Administration from Harvard University, Cambridge, USA. Theophilus has over 20 years’ experience in power system planning and operations as well as the development of public and private sector energy infrastructure projects. He has extensive experience in the development of key energy and power projects in West Africa, including the West African Gas Pipeline (WAGP) and the West African Power Pool (WAPP).

Samaila Zubairu
President & Chief Executive Officer

Samaila Zubairu is AFC's President & Chief Executive Officer. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Zubairu was the CEO of Africapital Management Limited, in which capacity he established a joint venture with Old Mutual's African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM) to develop the Nigerian Infrastructure Investment Fund (NIIF) for infrastructure private equity across West Africa.

As Chief Financial Officer for Dangote Cement Plc, he launched Africa's largest syndicated project finance facility for the Obajana Cement project and managed the unbundling of Dangote Industries Limited to listed subsidiaries on the Nigeria Stock Exchange. Prior to that, he was the Treasurer for the Dangote Group during its transformation from a trading company to an industrial conglomerate. He has undertaken investments of over US3 billion, financing greenfield project finance, acquisitions, corporate transformation, privatization and equity capital market transactions.
Samaila is an Eisenhower Fellow and sits on the Eisenhower Fellowship's Global Network Council and the President's Advisory Council.





Hajime Kobayashi
Director & Chief Technical Officer

Hajime oversees all aspects of the day-to-day project and technical management and operations at the project site, as well as the management of technical relationships with contractors and engineers. He has a BSc degree in Public Finance from Keio University. He has over 20 years’ experience in overseas EPC project and site management in both substations and power plants such as the 750MW F9FA 2-2- 1 gas fired Combined Cycle Power Plant in Malaysia, the750MW Cairo North Gas fired CCGT in Egypt and 30MW Blue Lagoon Geothermal Power Project in Iceland.





Kenichi Okemoto
Director & Chief Financial Officer

Kenichi oversees the management of accounting operations, financial reporting, and controlling the KIPP Project’s finances. He holds an MBA from Georgetown University and a BA in Economics from the University of Tokyo. He also has a number of professional financial industry qualifications such as Certified International Investment Analyst. He has over 13 years’ experience in finance, structured lending, advisory as well as asset management and project development in the IPP/IWPP industry.





Elizabeth Jokè Akin-Taylor
Director, Legal & Corporate Affairs

Elizabeth oversees the management and supervision of the legal, regulatory, administrative, logistics, human resources and corporate services including Board secretarial duties of the Company as well as ensuring compliance with regulations and statutory requirements. She holds a Masters degree in Law (LLM Commercial & Corporate Law) from the University of London. As a qualified lawyer, she has over 20 years’ experience in both private and public sector working with reputable legal firms and government institutions. She has extensive experience in various areas of law, and has been involved as a lead solicitor in various UK government projects. She is also a member of various professional bodies including the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, the Society of Women Solicitors and a member of the Law Society of England & Wales.
